Always View Yourself In the Highest Light

“Change the way you think.  Change your life forever.”

In high school I remember I had a crush on girl named Debbie.  I remember I thought she was not only pretty, but how nice and down to earth she was.  I also remember listening to friends and others telling me that I had no chance with her.  For a long time, I let people’s opinions and thoughts of what I can and can’t do affect my perception on myself.  I never believed that I could win or go out with her.  All because based on others definitions, I wasn’t cool enough to be her boyfriend.  Even my close friend at the time commented on the fact that he never asked her out, as he didn’t want to hurt my feelings.

After posting a graduation comment about her, the last day of high school Debbie came up to me as I was cleaning out my locker.  She asked if my graduation comment was addressed to her, and I told her yes.  It was so obvious as the initials I used in my message could only belong to her.  After I told her my answer, I was never prepared for what Debbie was going to say next.  She told me that as soon as she read my graduation post, she thought it was her and that was one of the nicest things a guy ever did for her.  She wished I told her that face to face and thanked me for making her smile.

That put a smile to my face, but was also an important lesson on always viewing yourself in the highest regard.

“Change the way you think.  Change your life forever.”

That story I have just told you about Debbie is to highlight the importance of viewing yourself in the highest regard, always!  View yourself in the highest regard, you can achieve the highest level of success you are looking for.  View yourself in the lowest regard, you will not achieve the level of success you are looking for.  Even before, during and after high school, it took me a very long time to get the validation about myself from the person that I need it from the most:  MYSELF.

“Change the way you think. Change your life forever.”

Many people in the world (myself included) at times have seeked approval and validation from people that don’t really matter.  GEEK.  LOSER.  TOO UGLY.  TOO STUPID.  NOT COOL.  These labels are used by individuals who seek to put others down, so they can feel better about themselves.  This happens everywhere.  At school.  At work.  At home.  At social events.  If people buy into these labels and allow them to define who they are, they will live a sad life.  Defining yourself in the highest light will open your life to endless possibilities.  Remember, we are all AWESOME and a great life awaits us once we see ourselves as champions.

“Change the way you think.  Change your life forever.”

It is important to highlight, that not everyone will accept and even like you for who you are.   That’s ok. The most important question is do you like you?  The answer to that question should always be yes.  If for whatever reason the answer is no, take some time to think about why is that the case and address it ASAP.  You will find reasons that make sense such as lose of friendships, job challenges, not doing enough of something that you love, that cause you to be negative and rough on yourself.  Remember to always  learn, love and forgive yourself.  By doing these things, you’ll like and love yourself even more.

“Change the way you think.  Change your life forever.”

You have seen me say this quote many times during my post today.  This quote comes from the movie Battle of the Year from 2013.  It’s as good of a quote as you will ever here.  It also is a reminder that you are what you think.  The way you think will have an impact on how you will live your life.    For myself, keeping as motivated and positive as much as possible has been a life changer for me.  It has allowed me to focus more on things that add value to my life, and I am better for it.

It is ok to have low points in your life.   It is going to happen.  Don’t forget that at these moments you need to be positive, believe in yourself and stay strong.  This will allow to add new and exciting labels your yourself that will take you to new levels in your life.  CHAMPION.  MOTIVATOR.  LEADER.  ROLE MODEL.  AMAZING.  ENERGETIC.  These are all great labels, and labels everyone can have.

“You Are What You Think.”

Thinking the highest of yourself is a necessity to be successful in life.  It will allow you to take the right actions and bring you closer to the goals and dreams of what you are trying to accomplish.  If you don’t believe in yourself, then who else will?  NO ONE.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t– you’re right.”  Henry Ford
