We Are All Busy!

168.  That is the number of hours in a week.   Studies have shown that 88 hours alone are spent on sleeping and eating.   That leaves you with 80 hours to do everything else.  Those other tasks are working, exercising, spending time with family and friends, school, and many other things.  It is fair to say that all of us live busy lives.   Each week, we have different activities and challenges to deal with.  It is easy to lose sight of that, especially when you are moving at such a fast pace.

I have seen over the years that we love to tell each other how busy we are.  Sometimes, we say it to the point where it does sound like a cliché.  As time has gone on, I have been very critical of when someone tells me how busy they are.  This past week, I had a very busy week.  I put in 50 hours of work time, coached, and by the time I came home; I just wanted to crash and not talk to anyone.  It’s funny.  It gave me a moment to step back and look at people who are very busy.  It was in that moment where I could relate and emphasize where they are coming from.

We all have many different things going on in our lives.  Busy work schedules.  Personal commitment and obligations. Dealing with life setbacks.  Or just needing some time to ourselves to recover and refocus.  In a typical week, everyone does have a lot going on.

For myself, it’s tough to hear how busy everyone is.  Especially when it comes from people you want to be around. However, it may also be as tough for them to hear the same from me.  When I put things in perspective like that, it makes accepting how busy people are.  Everyone’s personal schedules will not align with one another.  However, I challenge everyone including myself to make more time for one another, and do more of what you love.

Take the time to send that text message or make the call to say hello to someone.  Take time to go to the movies, exercise, hang out with loved ones, or lay in front of the television and catch up on some shows.  Take time to re-evaluate ourselves, and see how we can better versions of ourselves.

168.  That is the number of hours in a week.  Let’s make sure that no matter how busy we are, to live life to the fullest.  We have one life.  Let’s make the most of it while we are here.  Let’s remember to be busy, in the best possible way:  By living and being the best we can be!
